U+N SERIES
BiographyCombex Made To Measure U+N Series

In 1958 Pastoe introduced the U+N Series, the most subdued and classically elegant of the Braakman storage unit series. The U+N Series, made in wood with a choice of white doors, had inset handles and lean, angular black metal bases. These cabinets, an evolution of the "Made to Measure" group represented a revival of the design of individual pieces of furniture. Each U+N piece came already assembled and was not meant to be taken apart.

As society moved further away from the mentality of wartime living, people seemed to want larger, more permanent pieces in their homes. Braakman’s U+N cabinets combined some of the best elements of his modular storage systems- the appearance of floating cabinets and the bent plywood drawers- to create this series of solid and timeless pieces.
