David Wiseman (b. 1981) captures and preserves the fleeting beauty of natural forms -- such as a blossoming tree, a spider web or a glacier -- in his limited edition objects and unique commissions. He imparts this permanence through his expertise with materials and processes.
Each piece Wiseman creates is hands-on and labor intensive, and he is constantly experimenting with and exploring new ways of working with a wide array of mediums such as porcelain, metals and exquisite Czech crystal. Wiseman's deep appreciation for the subtle textures and details present in nature make his designs an intimate opportunity to experience these natural wonders the way he sees them.
Wiseman's work is included in private collections worldwide and was selected for Design Life Now, the 2006 Design Triennial at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution. In 2010 Wiseman completed commissions at Christian Dior flagship stores in Shanghai and New York and he recently completed a permanent public installation at the West Hollywood Library in Los Angeles, California. Wiseman, a 2003 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), lives and works in Los Angeles.
